Eumundi Christmas in July Fundraiser Supports Our Farmers
The Eumundi & District Historical Association together with the Original Eumundi Markets are hosting Christmas in July on Friday 26th July at the newly refurbished School of Arts in Eumundi as a fundraiser to support farmers through Rural Aid.
“It is great to be able to celebrate Christmas twice a year and at the same time help support a worthy cause. We have a lot to celebrate this year with the completion of the three-year long refurbishment of the School of Arts. The building inside and out looks amazing and recently won two Sunshine Coast Design Awards for the renovated bathrooms,” said President, Donata Page.
“The Christmas in July activity will also support our farmers with EHA and OEM joining forces to help support Rural Aid’s Buy a Cow project,” said Chairman of the Original Eumundi Markets Board, Barrie Adams.
“The Buy a Cow project is an initiative of Rural Aid that follows the buy a bale campaign. The loss of over 500,000 head of cattle is a massive hit to the industry. Many of these family farming operations have lost their core breeders which will take them years to replace.”
“After being in drought and feeding these animals for 7 years, these farmers need all the help they can get and now it’s time to give these farmers a boost with rebuilding their herd numbers. Many farmers will have no income for at least 12 or 18 months, maybe longer. This campaign is offering them practical support.”
The Christmas in July event will include entertainment by the Boston Belles, Christmas themed decorations and table settings, three courses of Christmas fare by local chef Peter Wolfe and a cash bar. Early bird prices up to 30th June are only $60 per person and tables of 8 are available for groups. Tickets after 30th June will be $70 per person.
Tickets can be purchased online through www.trybooking.com/BBTMC

Noosa Qld Day Awards highlight all that’s great about our community
Where would we be without our volunteer workforce?
On June 6, we celebrated Queensland Day right across this great state. In Noosa, a deserving bunch of volunteers were honoured at the Noosa Electorate Queensland Day Awards at The J.
A total of 42 people, from a broad range of community and business sectors including community associations, professional services, sporting clubs, regional events and local initiatives, received a Queensland Day medallion and certificate of appreciation.
Older people are indeed over-represented in the volunteering community, but the ceremony also showcased a younger, emerging group of volunteers. The concert band from St. Teresa’s Catholic College shared their musical talents to treat the audience to an entertaining variety of songs to kick off proceedings.
Young and old, community members celebrated the spirit of our community and our collective dedication to protecting our unique culture. Virtually every person who lives in Noosa has made a conscious decision to come here and having made that decision have joined a not for profit group of their choice to give back.
Since its inception four years ago, one of the awards major sponsors has been Bendigo Bank. Cooroy and Pomona branch’s Simone Flavelle and Tewantin Noosa branch manager, Linda Oliver and joined the celebration, and Simone said partnering the Member for Noosa, Sandy Bolton’s awards continues to be an easy decision.
“Our point of difference is our connection with our community and many of them were represented at the awards again this year,” Simone shared.
“The fact that our Noosa branches in Cooroy, Pomona and Tewantin work so closely with so many of them makes it all the more special. We return profits to where we all live and work. It’s still our point of difference and why our customers choose to bank with us at Bendigo Bank,” she said.
Australian Body Art Festival was Out of this World
The official word on the street is that this year’s Australian Body Art Festival was in the stratosphere! Sixty competitors from around the nation embraced this year’s theme of ‘Other Words’ and put on a colourful show for close to 10,000 spectators in Cooroy over the weekend.
Some of Australia’s best body artists, face painters, visual artists and wearable art designers created and paraded their masterpieces across five competition categories. And added to this super charged art show were some amazing entertainers including the likes of Aerial Dreaming on the silks, the Mask Family street performers, Nova Star stilt walkers, Gubbi Gubbi Dance and a host of musical and dance entertainment as well.
The theme drew a wide range of interpretations across all competition categories and some truly incredible art emerged.
“We are overjoyed with the success of this year’s festival. It was the biggest and best yet with something happening at any time in every corner of the festival. We are very proud of the wonderful community of volunteers and sponsors that support this event – we have created something truly unique and amazing and we intend to nurture that in the future,” said event manager, Danielle Taylor.
“The artists were under pressure to create their masterpieces within the defined time limits of the competitions, yet all had smiles on their faces and said they really enjoyed themselves,” Danielle said.

Get involved in Cooroy Fusion Festival
Ten years ago, Cooroy Fusion Festival started as a celebration for the opening of the Cooroy Library. It has since morphed into a one day community festival that delights thousands of locals and is testament to what makes Cooroy special – community.
“It’s a festival that includes the entire community with groups that have stalls at the festival, local businesses which sponsor the event, great local entertainment, market and food stalls, dozens of volunteers who assist in running the event and of course the thousands of people who come to experience everything the festival has to offer. If you’d like to get involved, we urge you to get in contact, as it is a great way to be connected to your community,” said festival chairperson, Jim Ennis.
Run annually by the volunteer, not-for-profit Cooroy Future Group Inc and supported by festival partners, Cooroy Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank and Noosa Council as well as a host of sponsors, this popular event brings Cooroy’s main street alive on Saturday of the Mother’s Day weekend.
This year the festival is held on Saturday 11 May and includes Apex Park activities such as market, community and food stalls, displays by Cooroy Camphor Laurel and Cooroora Woodworkers, and demonstrations at the skate park and BMX track; a pottery throw down at the Butter Factory Arts Centre; kid’s space at Cooroy Library including animal farm and Markerspace activities; the Noosa District Orchid Society Annual Show at the CWA Hall and the Lifeline Denim Sale which will be held in the Cooroy Memorial Hall.
The festival organisers have implemented a Zero Waste strategy in 2019 with a focus on recycling, no-single use plastic and an overall reduced carbon footprint.
Confirmed sponsorship activities include the Bendigo Bank Entertainment marquee with an entertainment line-up full of great local musicians and performers; the Cooroy Supa IGA Tastes of the Hinterland marquee where festival goers can sample the produce of the Sunshine Coast; appearances by Noosa Art’s Theatre’s Tweedledum and Tweedledee characters and 500 free tree seedlings to be handed out from Noosa Landcare for Mum’s for Mother’s Day.
