Get involved in Cooroy Fusion Festival
Ten years ago, Cooroy Fusion Festival started as a celebration for the opening of the Cooroy Library. It has since morphed into a one day community festival that delights thousands of locals and is testament to what makes Cooroy special – community.
“It’s a festival that includes the entire community with groups that have stalls at the festival, local businesses which sponsor the event, great local entertainment, market and food stalls, dozens of volunteers who assist in running the event and of course the thousands of people who come to experience everything the festival has to offer. If you’d like to get involved, we urge you to get in contact, as it is a great way to be connected to your community,” said festival chairperson, Jim Ennis.
Run annually by the volunteer, not-for-profit Cooroy Future Group Inc and supported by festival partners, Cooroy Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank and Noosa Council as well as a host of sponsors, this popular event brings Cooroy’s main street alive on Saturday of the Mother’s Day weekend.
This year the festival is held on Saturday 11 May and includes Apex Park activities such as market, community and food stalls, displays by Cooroy Camphor Laurel and Cooroora Woodworkers, and demonstrations at the skate park and BMX track; a pottery throw down at the Butter Factory Arts Centre; kid’s space at Cooroy Library including animal farm and Markerspace activities; the Noosa District Orchid Society Annual Show at the CWA Hall and the Lifeline Denim Sale which will be held in the Cooroy Memorial Hall.
The festival organisers have implemented a Zero Waste strategy in 2019 with a focus on recycling, no-single use plastic and an overall reduced carbon footprint.
Confirmed sponsorship activities include the Bendigo Bank Entertainment marquee with an entertainment line-up full of great local musicians and performers; the Cooroy Supa IGA Tastes of the Hinterland marquee where festival goers can sample the produce of the Sunshine Coast; appearances by Noosa Art’s Theatre’s Tweedledum and Tweedledee characters and 500 free tree seedlings to be handed out from Noosa Landcare for Mum’s for Mother’s Day.
Other sponsors already confirmed include Wythes Real Estate, Cooroy Rag, Sutton’s Cleaning, Sunny Coast Accountants, Fiona Winter Realty, Cooroy Service Centre RACQ, Gelignite Jacks, Mower & ATV Solutions, Ben Eggleton of Jim’s Building Inspections Cooroy, Greenwood Grove, McDermott Aviation and Cooroy Chamber of Commerce. If you are a local business, it isn’t too late to add your name to this illustrious list.
