COOROY STATE SCHOOL – WHERE EXCELLENCE BEGINS
Cooroy State School has a proud tradition of educating the children of the Cooroy area since 1909. Our heritage provides a strong foundation for our continuing commitment to excellence in education.
At the moment we have Prep to Yr 7 but in 2015 Year 7 will be part of secondary education in Queensland and we will a P – 6 school.
We have a very strong focus on the basics – reading, writing and maths. Our NAPLAN data has shown strong growth in recent years and we are continuing to build on this. Children’s progress is monitored and support provided where necessary. We also have a strong commitment to extending our more talented students with a gifted program. Our close links with Noosa District High School ensure some of our more talented years 5 – 7 students have the opportunity to extend their skills in programs run in conjunction with the High School.
Throughout their school life at Cooroy SS, they receive lessons from specialist teachers in Music, Physical Education, Dance and Art. They are also given the opportunity to be part of school choirs and represent the school in various sports.
Apart from our strong curriculum offerings, positive behaviour, respect, care and concern for all persons is emphasised. We work with children on developing their social skills and an awareness and appreciation of the community in which they live. We contribute to and get involved in events in the Cooroy community.
Our school is a vibrant hub of learning with quality teachers, strong curriculum, great parents and wonderful students. It is the best place for your child to commence their school journey.
